Over 600 Turlock Unified School District students will be showcasing their musical talents at the Festival on the Green, set for March 9 at Pitman High School.

Festival on the Green, hosted by the Turlock Education Foundation and TUSD, is free and open to the public.

“Our goal is to provide an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate music and arts in our community and enjoy our TUSD students,” said TEF President Barney Gordon.

There will be activities, food, an art exhibit, a Kids' Zone, and community agency booths for all ages to enjoy.

“We will have a booth with instruments for kids to try out for themselves,” said Gordon.  “We will also be highlighting the need for instrument repair and replacement in the district.”

Any funds raised will go to TEF to enhance and enrich the educational experience of TUSD students.

“The district will also have a character booth to promote the importance of the (Character Counts) program ... and an outdoor stage with entertainment by local organizations and schools,” said Gordon.

TUSD is currently looking for unique vendors in a range of areas including crafts, homemade goods, clothing, accessories, non-perishable foods and business information.  Vendor applications and information is available at www.turlockusd-ca.shoolloop.com or by calling 634-0843.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 9 at 2525 Christoffersen Parkway, Turlock.
