An open house will be held at the Allied Health Center, the newest academic building at Merced College, at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 18. The Merced County Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the facility, while faculty and students will lead tours.
Construction on the $11.7 million building began in December 2007. The facility opened for classes this summer.
In addition to 20,000 square feet of instructional space, the Allied Health Center plays host to the Dr. Lakireddy School of Health Sciences. Registered and licensed vocational nursing, certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, sonography, and radiologic technology programs are all sited at the new center.
The Allied Health Center is located on University Drive, northwest of the Tri College Center at Merced College.
