Brown Elementary School is set to welcome a new assistant principal to its site. Nicole Aviles, who was officially approved for the position by the Turlock Unified School District Board of Trustees at their meeting on Tuesday, will work towards fulfilling the school’s mission of ensuring the academic success of each student.

“The district went through a rigorous process and we believe that Nicole Aviles will do an excellent job,” announced assistant superintendent of human resources Heidi Lawler at TUSD’s Board meeting on Tuesday.

Aviles has served the district for over ten years as a first grade teacher at Osborn Elementary School and an instructional coach at Cunningham Elementary School. With TUSD Superintendent Sonny Da Marto’s recommendation, the new assistant principal will continue to lend her expertise to the district.

“It is an honor to be put in a position of leadership to help schools develop a positive culture and climate to increase student accomplishment,” said Aviles.

Aviles will replace former assistant principal Nicole Kent, who has relocated to Elk Grove. The assistant principal hopes to utilize her new position to build strong relationships with students, faculty, and the community.
