Spring marks the time of upcoming graduations, but it’s also a time for parents to consider having their young ones take their first step in education by enrolling in preschool. Now parents have a new option to consider in town: Cornerstone Christian Preschool.

Christ-centered but not affiliated with Cornerstone Covenant Church where the preschool is held, Cornerstone Christian preschool is a privately owned and operated preschool currently accepting enrollment for its first year. Children from the age of two to six can enjoy half day or full day programs with a range of lessons, curriculum and developmental exercises.

"At the preschool level every moment is a teaching moment. Through your actions and words towards the children to organized lessons with experiments or circle time, there is always an opportunity for the child to learn," said Amanda Gonzales, owner of Cornerstone Christian Preschool.

Gonzales entered the teaching sphere after an internship at the California Development Center through California State University, Stanislaus. After rising through the ranks on the administrative side of preschool education and eventually becoming a director of a local school, Gonzales was interested in hybridizing the lessons she had learned from her experience by opening up her own school.

"Some schools focus more on curriculum versus social time and I wanted something that would bring it all together in a safe, fun, and exciting environment but also emphasize high quality education to ensure the kids are ready for kindergarten,” said Gonzales. "The main focus of this preschool is to honor and praise God.”

Each day will be a balance between academic structure, social time and Christ-centered education. Parents can determine how long they would like their child to be at the preschool through a variety of enrollment options. Full day programs begin as early as 6 a.m. and end as late as 6 p.m. while half day programs are available for either the mornings or evenings from either 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 6 pm.

Parents interested in more information and to observe the facilities can attend an open house at Cornerstone Christian Preschool from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. today located at 4105 Crowell Road. To enroll contact Amanda Gonzales at 535-0136 or access www.ccpturlock.com.
