Bringing home eight first place awards and a best of show from the California State Fair has made it the best year so far for the Turlock High School FFA Ag Mechanics team.

THS Junior Trey Smith took home the big prize as he won the best of show title for his division on his 18-foot laser scraper. He also won overall outstanding project, the air gas award and the Jim and Sue Avery award in the amount of $250 in scholarships. Other students that took first at the State Fair include Elijah Pacheco, Nick Gutierrez, Steven Vieira, Austin Silva, Anthony Andrino, Gerrit Dyzsuel and Jordan Parreira.

“I am proud of all of their dedication and hard work,” said THS agriculture teacher Chad Russell. They sacrificed a lot of their time this summer to complete their projects and all of their efforts really paid off.”
