The Walnut Elementary Green Science Olympiad team took third place at the 28th annual event, sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education and held at the Turlock school site. Hickman Charter took first place and Fremont Open Plan took home second.

Events included: A Matter of Matter, Can Race; Catapult, Chopper Challenge, Codebusters, Crime Busters, Deep Blue Sea, Estimania, Knock, Knock Who’s There, Leaf and Tree, Map Reading, Mystery Architecture, Name That Scientist, No Bones About It, Rock Hound, Straw Egg Drop and Write It-Do It.

Walnut Green took first place in the A Matter of Matter event, 2nd place in the Catapult and Leaf and Tree, 3rd place in the Chopper Challenge, Crime Busters, Map Reading and No Bones About It, 4th place in Rock Hound and Knock, Knock Who’s There and 5th place in Can Race.

The Walnut Gold team took 1st place in No Bones About It, 2nd place in the Chopper Challenge, Codebusters and Crime Busters, 3rd place in Estimania, 4th place in Leaf and Tree, Map Reading and Write It — Do It and 5th place in Straw Egg Drop.
Julien Elementary and Dennis Earl Elementary teams also competed in the Science Olympiad.

The Julien White team took 1st place in Rock Hound, 2nd place in Name the Scientist and No Bones About It, 2nd place in Estimania and Knock, Knock Who’s There, 3rd place in Codebusters and 5th place in the Chopper Challenge.

The Julien Blue team took 3rd place in Leaf and Tree, Name the Scientist and Rock Hound, 4th place in Mystery Architecture and 5th place in No Bones About It.

Dennis Earl took 1st place in Map Reading.
