Local community members still have time to vote for Walnut Elementary in the Scotties Trees Rock video competition to help the elementary school increase its chances for a shot at the $10,000 grand prize. Having recently dropped from first to second place among 12 national contestants, Walnut Elementary needs the community to support by logging onto www.scottiestreesrock.com and voting for Walnut’s third grade classes video titled “Hug a Tree."

Walnut teacher Irene Hales spearheaded bringing three third grade classes together to create a compelling video for the contest on the importance of trees to the environment.

Individuals can vote up to one time each day until Friday.
