Artists invite community behind the curtain

The works of dozens of artists will be on display, as well as the creative process behind their works, during the Stanislaus County Artist Open Studio Tour.

A total of 53 artists from the county will be opening their doors and inviting the public in to get a first-hand look at the artist at work. The tour gives visitors the opportunity to talk with the artists about their methods of creation and the inspiration behind their various pieces.

In addition to the studio stops, the tour will also visit several art galleries in the county.

Some of the pieces will be for sale and attendees will have the opportunity to win an original piece of art work.

Local Turlock artists participating in the tour include Rhett Owings, Don Hall and Claudia Silvia-Doo.

The tour is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 2 and 3. The maps to the studios and the passports, which serve as tickets are $10 and can be purchased locally at the Turlock Chamber of Commerce, First Street Frames and The Greenery or by calling 554-6924.

The tour is sponsored by the Stanislaus County Travel and Tourism Roundtable.
