U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) is now accepting submissions for this year’s 10th District Congressional Art Competition.

High school students from California’s 10th district can submit artwork to be judged by a local panel of judges for the chance to be hung as part of the national exhibition in the United States Capitol, where thousands of visitors pass through each year. The second and third place winners’ art will be displayed in Denham’s Modesto office.

All artwork and release forms must be delivered to Denham’s Modesto office at 4701 Sisk Road, Ste. 202 no later than 5 p.m. April 17.

Artwork that does not meet all the requirements will not be eligible for judging. Submissions will also be featured on Congressman Denham’s Facebook and Instagram pages (@RepJeffDenham), along with an artist profile. A local reception to honor all participants and announce the winner will be held during the first week of May for the contestants and their family and friends.

In addition to having their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol exhibit, the winning student and one guest will be invited to the annual awards ceremony hosted on Capitol Hill on June 27. A scholarship may also be offered to the winner to fly to D.C. for the reception and announcement of the national winner.

The Congressional Art Competition was established in 1982, and since then, more than 650,000 students have participated. More information, including a list of official guidelines, is available on Rep. Denham’s website. To request release forms or for detailed inquiries, please contact Alex Tolman at 579-5458.
