Having trouble finding information relating to Turlock community events and activities? Don’t think that the city’s social posts are relevant to you and other community members? Or is the city doing a fantastic job when it comes to engaging with the public? Regardless of how you feel about the way the City of Turlock communicates, they want to hear from you.
The City of Turlock will be hosting a community workshop to discuss a new Communications Plan from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway, Turlock.
“A City of Turlock Communications Plan can provide a trajectory for success and serve as a comprehensive roadmap with clear communication goals, communication objectives, and communication strategies,” said Anthony Sims, city’s communications and economic development director. “A Communications Plan will identify tools, mechanisms, and procedures that the City can use to effectively communicate information to residents and businesses, as well as engage residents and businesses in two-way dialog and participation in community and civic affairs.”
Community members are invited to attend a listening session with representatives from the City of Turlock to share feedback regarding the City’s communication and engagement efforts. They’d like to learn what communication tools folks use to stay informed of city news, identify which communication tools are most successful, how the City can improve or redirect communication efforts to reach the public more efficiently and what City projects or topics are most important to residents.
According to Sims, the Communication Plan process will take five to seven months to complete and will entail various activities such as:
- Identifying City communication vision and goals
- Identify the most effective Communications Tools SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats)
- Provide multiple Community Workshops Facilitate Online Surveys (External & Internal)
- Provide City Digital Asset Overview and Assessment
- Identify Target Audiences/Community Stakeholders & Groups Identify Strategies to Consider
- Identify Communication Performance Measures Develop a City Crisis Communication Plan
“This is a great opportunity for a community conversation,” Sims said. “We want all community members to attend this event. This is a listening session to hear feedback from you on how we can better our communication and engagement efforts.
“We're really looking forward to hearing back from the Turlock community.”
