John Duarte
Congressman John Duarte

Congressman John Duarte accepted the position of Vice Chair of the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit on Thursday. The subcommittee oversees the development of U.S. transportation policy, including the construction and improvement of highway and transit facilities, safety and research programs and regulation of motor vehicles.

“I am pleased to serve as the Vice Chair of the Highways and Transit subcommittee under Chairman Rick Crawford. This is an opportunity to bring transit solutions to the Central Valley” said Duarte.

In a comment to the media, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) said: “As Vice Chairman of our largest subcommittee, Congressman Duarte will play an important role in our oversight of the $1.2 trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, to help ensure the Administration is carrying out the law as it was written and that funds are being used to improve the supply chain and transportation efficiency. His experience as a fellow farmer and small business owner will also prove valuable as we look to reduce regulatory burdens in federal infrastructure programs.”

In addition to the House Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, Congressman Duarte will also serve on two other subcommittees of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure: the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment and the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.
