Turlock Mayor Gary Soiseth will give his third State of the City address at an early morning public event scheduled for March 22 in front of the Public Safety Facility.

Soiseth is expected to talk about the infrastructure improvements the City initiated in 2016 — including the finalization of the first-in-the-nation recycled water sale agreement with Del Puerto Water District and the progress made on the Stanislaus Regional Water Agency’s development of a new drinking water facility — and the Council’s focus on public safety in 2017.

“Last year’s address focused on our pressing needs regarding water and roads,” said Soiseth in a released statement. “With the passage of Measure L and the substantial progress with our surface water project, Turlock is well on its way to accomplishing our goals of improved roads and sustainable drinking water. So, this year, the focus will highlight our commitment to police and fire services.”

The passage of the countywide road tax in November and how those funds will be used in Turlock — starting with the renovation of West Main Street — will be included in Soiseth’s 2016 highlights.

The Mayor is also expected to unveil several new initiatives focusing on Turlock veterans and active military personnel in the coming year.

The State of the City address will be held at 7:30 a.m. March 22 at the Public Safety Facility, located at 244 North Broadway Ave. The public is invited to attend. Coffee and donuts will be provided and the event is scheduled to last one hour. Provisions have been made for a chance of rain and the event will proceed rain or shine.
