Recycling rainwater
rain

Over the past week, Turlock has been getting an abundance of rain. Have you ever thought about using rainwater around your house in order to conserve the use of ground and well water? Below are some easy ways to do just that:

1. Set out bowls, buckets and troughs in an open space outside to catch rainwater directly. This makes for the perfect drinking and bathing water for pets and livestock.

2. Connect a rain barrel to your gutter system to catch the large amount of rainwater coming from your roof. You can use this to wash outdoor vehicles and equipment.

3. Watering plants with rainwater is the easiest form of recycling rainwater. Make sure your potted plants are placed in an open space to directly receive the rain as it falls. Keep an eye on them though, to make sure they are not getting too much water.
