Turlock chiefs ready for coffee and a chat

Anyone hankering for a cup of coffee and a conversation about the state of public safety in Turlock will find both needs met with the return of the Coffee with the Chiefs program.

Turlock Police Chief Rob Jackson and Turlock Fire Chief Robert Talloni are inviting the public to join them for the first in a series of chats over coffee. The first Coffee with the Chiefs is set for 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday at the Starbucks at 1611 Lander Ave.

“Both Chief Talloni and myself are looking forward to the Coffee with the Chiefs event,” said Jackson. “In the past this event has given a chance for the police and fire chief to meet one on one with members of our public in a non-formal setting.”

The purpose of the event is to give the general public a format to get to know the leaders of the city’s public safety departments and provide an opportunity for residents to bring forth any public safety issues they would like the chiefs to address. It also has a goal of forging a stronger bond between the public safety departments and members of the community.

A series of coffee meetings were held previously in 2013 with Jackson and then Fire Chief Tim Lohman, and drew out a number of residents who were interested in public safety. This will be the first Coffee with the Chiefs meeting for Talloni.

“I am looking forward to pulling up a chair and speaking with our neighbors and friends on public safety related topics,” Talloni said.
