Family Friday: The Great Valley Museum will lead a free Family Friday event about the colors of the rainforest from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. April 18 at the Carnegie Arts Center. Participants can discover the beautiful colors and sounds of plants and animals as they explore the layers of the rainforest. The Carnegie is located at 250 N. Broadway, Turlock. In the Air Tonight: A tribute concert to the Grammy award-winning band Genesis and Phil Collins will be held at 7 p.m. April 18 at The State Theatre in downtown Modesto. Egg Hunt @ the Market: Children ages 1 to 12 are invited to participate in an Egg Hunt at the Modesto Certified Farmers Market on April 19. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. next to the information booth and the hunt will start at 10 a.m. Children will be divided into age groups, with activities held on the library lawn and church lawn. The Market is located at 1522 H St. in downtown Modesto.

Viva La Quebradita Tour: The Viva La Quebradita Tour featuring Banda Machos and Banda Maguey will be at the Gallo Center for the Arts at 7:30 p.m. April 18. Two bands from Villa Corona in the state of Jalisco that are among the most successful exponents of the “technobanda” sound are coming to Modesto. The shelves are slowly emptying at the Rite Aid on Monte Vista Avenue as the national drugstore chain prepares to close all its locations (KRISTINA HACKER/The Journal).
The shelves at Turlock’s Rite Aid drugstore on Monte Vista Avenue are slowly being emptied and signs posted on the store’s popular Thrifty counter state “No More Ice-Cream” with a cartoon cone sporting a frowny face. An employee of the local drugstore on Thursday confirmed to curious customers that the store will be closing its doors, but he didn’t know exactly when.
