Accident takes out power lines

A single vehicle roll over crash in Denair sheared off a power pole and started a small grass fire.

The accident was reported around 11 a.m. Friday on Monte Vista Avenue between Vincent and Hickman roads.

An unidentified man was driving a smaller model pickup westbound on Monte Vista, when for an unknown reason he veered off the road and collided into the pole, according to the Denair Fire Department.

The truck rolled onto its roof and into a ditch, but the driver was able to get himself out of the truck and only had minor injuries, the fire department reported.

The collision caused one power line to snap and left two dangling down. The fallen line sparked a small grass fire that burned itself out by the time fire crews arrived.

The road was briefly closed while crews repaired the lines.
