Donna Wayman-Maurer thinks there needs to be more opportunities to appreciate art in Turlock.
The owner of the town’s newest art space, The Pink Duck Gallery, which opened in fall 2025, is excited that the Art Around Town event has returned to Turlock.
“You really need art in your life. It just makes things so much better. It makes people happy. And I really want to get more attention on art in the community,” she said.
Art Around Town was developed by a committee of art enthusiasts and supporters to highlight the exciting things happening in arts and culture in downtown Turlock. It’s a series of evening art walks that feature free, family-friendly events at a variety of downtown arts venues and businesses. The overall goal of Art Around Town is to familiarize the community with local artists, artisans, and galleries, but also to promote the flourishing and diverse downtown Turlock business and culture scene. The art walk hasn’t been held in Turlock since before the pandemic.
The first Art Around Town event of 2026 will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and feature seven creatively focused downtown businesses.
“We are excited for the art walk to return to Downtown Turlock and to include several new to downtown art businesses” said Carnegie Arts Center Assistant Director Megan Hennes “We think this event will bring attention to what’s going on in art, culture, shopping, and dining in Turlock’s vibrant downtown district.”
Attendees of the art walk are invited to stroll between several art galleries and businesses located on and near Main Street. All will have refreshments along with art, antiques and locally handcrafted items for viewing and for sale.
On Thursday, the following businesses will be open for the first 2026 Art Around Town event:
- The Carnegie Arts Center, 250 N. Broadway
- Colossal Tattoo, 429 E. Main Street
- The Gallery Finesse, 128 N. Center Street
- Paper Moon Stationery and Art Supply, 120 W. Main Street
- The Pink Duck Art Gallery, 141 N. Center Street
- Rustic Roots, 231 E. Main Street
- Stan State Art Space, 226 N. First Street
Art Around Town events will take place quarterly in 2026 on the following dates: May 7, Aug. 6 and Nov. 7. For more information follow Art Around Town on Facebook.
