The man killed in a vehicle versus pedestrian collision Thursday in Turlock has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Khananshoo Safarkaylan, 66, of Turlock.

The collision happened around 1 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Geer Road and Minnesota Avenue.

The vehicle that struck Safarkaylan, a Toyota Camry, was driven by an 83-year-old woman, who remained at the accident scene.

The 83-year-old was turning right from Minnesota onto Geer on a green light when she struck Safarkaylan, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Safarkaylan was not walking in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Safarkaylan was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital with severe head trauma. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time after the collision.
