Umpqua Bank is offering families a simple way to give back to schools with the launch of its Give Back to School Fund on Saturday.

Beginning Thursday, Umpqua will add $1 to the fund for every new “Like” on the business’ Facebook page. The fund will provide grants to K-12 schools in Oregon, Washington, California and Nevada.

“There’s no better way to support the long-term health of our communities than by investing in education,” said Ray Davis, president and CEO of Umpqua Bank. “Umpqua Bank provides ongoing support to schools in our communities, both financially and through our Connect Volunteer Network. Now, with a quick click or comment on Facebook, we’re inviting our communities to help give back to schools through our Give Back to School Fund.”

After Liking Umpqua’s Facebook page, fans are encouraged to nominate their school to receive a grant through Umpqua Bank’s Give Back to School Fund by posting a recommendation on Umpqua’s Facebook Wall between Thursday and Sept. 10. Winning schools must be located within Umpqua Bank’s four-state territory and will be selected randomly from the suggestions received.
