Boot scootin' new year

A group of dancers started the new year with a little boot scootin' at the Turlock Senior Center on Tuesday. The line dancing class, led by Nancy Franklin, is offered through the City of Turlock Recreation Department. The 8-week intermediate class started Tuesday, but others are welcome to join next week from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. A beginning line dancing class will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. starting next Tuesday. Community members hope to rename baseball field after beloved Little League coach

A committee has been appointed to look into renaming the Little League baseball field on the campus of Julien Elementary after longtime coach Paul Cooper, who passed away on May 3 (Photo contributed).
A staple in the local Little League scene who recently passed away is the subject of a community effort to rename an iconic Turlock baseball field.
