A child’s wish is about to come true in the Stanislaus County thanks to Brenda Athletics who is raising money for their dream to become a reality.

“We are all about helping out the community,” said Amber Artrip, activities director for Brenda Athletics in Turlock. “We are doing the best for our community and we hope to make it a better place.”

Both the Turlock and Modesto Brenda Athletic Clubs are coming together to host a fundraiser event where 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation, Artrip said. Money raised will go to one child that lives in Stanislaus County and is involved in the Make a Wish Foundation.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Aug. 21 at the Turlock Brenda Athletics Club with live music, bounce houses, a dunk tank, water slides, a huge raffle and even free use of the facilities open to the public that day.

Each raffle ticket is $5 with a chance to win a free membership, personal trainer sessions, gift cards, and stand up exercise bike, among others. It is $1 each to participate in the dunk tank, bounce houses and water slides.

This is the first year that Brenda Athletics has put on this event and they plan to make it an annual event from now on.

Mr. Pickles and Jamba Juice will also be present making food and smoothies, with 20 percent of their sales on that day going to the Make a Wish Foundation, she said.

“Instead of going to lunch, come (to Brenda Athletics) and 20 percent of it goes to a good cause,” Artrip said.

Brenda Athletics is also seeking sponsors for the event. Sponsorships start at $100 and include having your business or personal name on a banner that will be placed in the gym for one year, as well as recognition on the club’s Web site and newsletter.
