Casting call looking for Turlock performers

Any local residents hoping for that one big break to launch them into stardom might find their opportunity at a casting call coming to town.

Adi Productions is looking to cast local nonunion actors from the region for roles in their upcoming independent film “Murphy’s Forgettable Day.” Screenwriter and one-time Turlock resident Richard Sargis said comedian John Caponera is a co-producer on the film and that they are in negotiations to have him either star or direct the film.

Filming for the independent feature will be done in Turlock and the surrounding areas in the fall.

“I, along with the fact the other producers and investors are from the area, felt many locations in Turlock lent themselves to the Midwest, Chicago suburb look that makes up the majority of the film's scenes,” Sargis said.

The casting call will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 17 at the Turlock Community Theatre. The first 400 people to register for the casting call will get free tickets to Caponera’s comedy show, St. Patrick’s Laugh Night, at 7:30 p.m. March 17. A portion of the comedy show will be filmed and used in the movie, Sargis said.
