A 19-year-old Hilmar woman was critically injured in a collision outside of Oakdale.

The injured woman was identified by the California Highway Patrol as Ashley Marie DeSilva and she sustained major head injuries from the crash, according to the accident report.

DeSilva was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt northbound on Wamble Road, approaching Highway 108 around 10 a.m. Saturday.

Traveling eastbound on 108 was Roger Prill, 67, of Vallejo, driving a 2010 Ford Fusion.

The intersection between 108 and Wamble has a posted stop sign for traffic on Wamble. The CHP report states DeSilva either failed to stop at the sign or did not see the oncoming vehicle when she pulled out onto 108.

The Ford collided with the Chevrolet on the driver’s side. The impact caused the Chevrolet to overturn and it landed on its roof.

DeSilva was rushed to Memorial Medical Center. Prill had a neck contusion and was treated for his injury.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
