American Legion Auxiliary members from Rex Ish Post 88 Turlock attended a workshop in July hosted by the California American Legion Auxiliary and held in Gustine.

The workshop covered information on all the programs conducted by the American Legion including sending care packages to service members overseas, helping with military families and providing scholarships and leadership opportunities for local youth.

Changes for the upcoming year include the distribution of poppies throughout the whole month of May, instead of just one week. This annual event raises funds for disabled veterans and service members currently hospitalized.

Those interested in helping out with American Legion activities can contact Gerry Shippee at 667-0499, or come down to the Legion Hall from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of every month. The Legion Hall is located at 75 Bothun Rd., Turlock.
