A Newman man was killed in a solo vehicle crash along the outskirts of Turlock Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Tony Lee Paxia Jr., 41, of Newman. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Paxia was found by a driver who saw a Ford Focus resting partially in a field near the intersection of Bradbury and Crows Landing roads.

The discovery was made shortly before 7 a.m.

Based on the evidence at the scene, the California Highway Patrol believes Paxia lost control of the vehicle when he overcorrected while heading south on Crows Landing.

The evidence indicated the Ford rolled several times before coming to a rest in the field.

Paxia is not believed to have been wearing a seat belt. He was ejected from the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have been a factor in the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact CHP Officer John Chituas at 545-7440.
