Dancing with the Turlock Stars twirled into three local organizations on Friday to present donation checks made possible by the generosity of Turlock’s dance stars, pros and the hundreds of community supporters of the popular dance competition fundraiser. The Turlock Salvation Army Corps, Covenant Care Hospice and Jessica’s House each received a $52,500 donation from the proceeds of the 2017 Dancing with the Turlock Stars. While DWTTS has continued to grow over the years, going from raising $34,000 during its inaugural event and inching closer to $200,000 each year, and DWTTS Board President Kristin Bettencourt only expects the celebration of Turlock’s most giving to get even bigger – especially with the show’s fifth anniversary quickly approaching.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
