History of business:

The employees at Deli Delicious take the freshness of their ingredients seriously, arriving at the sandwich shop hours before it opens each day to slice and prepare the things that make their sandwiches great, from lettuce and tomatoes to tri-tip and chicken. Owner Russell Clark takes pride in the restaurant’s dedication to quality, and believes it has contributed greatly to their success with the Turlock community so far.

“Since day one it’s been nothing but busy,” said Clark. “The city itself is so supportive and the community is so wonderful.”

With a vast menu which includes 36 different kinds of sandwiches, such as customer favorites like the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Chipotle Chicken Sandwich, Deli Delicious has nestled into the niche of sandwich shops in the city that the residents have come to love. The restaurant has become well-known for its beer-battered fries, which Clark sells nearly 30 pounds of each day, and also offers other options of fries like sweet potato and curly. For those looking to cut back on carbs, the sandwich shop also wraps any sandwich, hot or cold, in lettuce at the customer’s request.

“It’s great to serve people food that they really enjoy,” said Clark. “If a customer comes in and wants something a certain way, I provide it that way so they have a good experience and want to come back. I understand what customers want.”

The former Marine has not only made it his mission to provide the community with delicious food, but to give back to those who keep the city safe as well. The Deli Delicious staff recently supplied the City of Turlock’s police and fire departments with free lunch, and plan to continue doing so in the future as a token of the restaurant’s appreciation for public safety.

“They are a huge part of the community, and I feel they tend to be underappreciated,” said Clark. “They do a lot of stuff for us, and the least we could do is buy their lunch.”

While Deli Delicious is happy to give back to those who protect the city, Clark also expressed what it means to him to provide the community with a fresh, healthy option for their meals whether it be through the restaurant’s catering service or walk-in dining.

“If you go down the street, a majority of the time all you see is fast food,” said Clark. “When you take a bite out of one of our sandwiches, you’re looking at three to four hours of preparation to make that food. We provide quick service, but it’s not fast food.”
