The rural town of Denair is once again inviting area residents to enjoy a day of fun at the 9th annual Denair Farm & Family Festival on Saturday.
Festival events will start at 8 a.m. with the 5K Farm Run, followed by a tractor parade down Main Street at 9 a.m. and artisan booths, agricultural demonstrations, food and kids activities will run until 3 p.m.
“We have a lot of exciting things this year,” said event organizer James Shehan.
Registration is $25 for the 5K Farm Run and will start at 7 a.m. Saturday in front of the Denair Gaslight Theater at 3908 N. Gratton Rd. All money raised go towards scholarships for local kids, said Shehan.
The tractor parade is new to the festival this year and will begin at 9 a.m. and go down Main Street. Shehan said the parade will feature tractors through the years, starting with a horse-drawn plough and up through modern technology.
The focus on the town’s agricultural roots will continue at the festival with corn shucking and wood carving demonstrations, as well as a display from the Western Heritage Engines Antiques Tractors, Inc.
Shehan said there will also be a lot more craft booths this year and new food vendors including Ragin’ Cajun, Tri Tipery and Doc’s Q’in Pit Stop.
Kids activities include a petting zoo hosted by the Denair FFA and Hoof n’ Horns 4-H clubs.
