A Denair toddler drowned Thursday after falling into a hot tub.

The 18-month old boy fell into a hot tub in the 4100 block of Windgate Drive around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.

A call to 911 was made and the Denair Fire Department, American Medical Response and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.

It’s unknown who placed the 911 call.

The child had been pulled out of the hot tub and first responders found him not breathing and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The young boy was taken by ambulance to Emanuel Medical Center and then later flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital Central California in Madera.

Around 4 p.m. Thursday the 18-month-old was declared dead, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said.

The sheriff’s department is investigating the incident. There were no signs of foul play, Bejaran said.

“There is nothing to believe that this was anything more than a tragic accident,” Bejaran said.
