Residents will soon be able to help the Friends of the Turlock Public Library keep the bookshelves in the children’s area stocked with new material when they go out to do their shopping.
The Turlock dd’s Discount store has selected the library group to benefit from a fundraising drive through the month of August. Customers will be encouraged to donate at dd’s registers and 100 percent of all donations collected will be used by the Friends of the Turlock Public Library to purchase children’s books for the Turlock location.
“We are very excited to be a part of First Book, dd’s DISCOUNTS fundraiser,” said Jackie Oyer, the president of the Friends of the Turlock Public Library. “Money collected will be given to the Friends of the Turlock Library. The money will be used to purchase children’s books from First Book Marketplace. Children from all economic backgrounds will have access to these wonderful new books.
“This isn’t the first time dd’s has reached out to the Turlock Library,” Oyer continued. “When the store opened I was invited to attend the festivities. I was given a check for S2,500 for the library and later the library received several boxes of books. We are very grateful for the relationship between the library and dd’s.”
The donation drive will begin Aug. 6 and continue through Aug. 28.
“dd’s DISCOUNTS supports charitable organizations that help empower young people in our communities,” said Gary Cribb, executive vice president of stores and loss prevention for Ross Stores, Inc. “In this Back-to-School season, we invite our dd’s customers to join us in donating to First Book and its local education partners. Together, we can promote literacy so that kids thrive in school and beyond.”
dd’s Discounts is located at 601 N. Golden State Boulevard.
