Students from Pitman High’s home economics program sewed 30 dresses for donation to the Salvation Army in Turlock. The Kiwanis Club of Turlock bought the material from Cloth and Quilts in Turlock, at a discounted price.

According to Pitman home economics teacher Anne Cornell, this year marks the 10th time students have delivered the dresses to the Salvation Army.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
