As drought conditions continue, the City of Turlock encourages water users to implement one new water saving activity per day. You’ll be surprised how much you save. And even if the savings are small, it’s important that we all do our part because “Every Drop Counts.” Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Make the most of the water used in your home – Take shorter showers, invest in water saving appliances and fixtures, turn off the tap when brushing teeth or shaving, and reuse water as often as possible.

2. Choose a landscaping design that requires less water – Consider reducing lawn size and replace with drought tolerant plants, shrubs, and trees.

3. Eat foods that require less water to produce – The amount of water used to produce processed foods far exceeds the amount of water used for growing vegetables, nuts, and grains.

4. Patronize businesses that promote good water conservation practices  — Commercial car wash establishments recycle wash water.

5. Carry a refillable water container rather than buying bottled water – The production and disposal of bottled water consumes large quantities of water and energy.
