The Stanislaus County Fair and Turlock Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee is partnering with local classrooms to build on their education.
The Stanislaus County Fair's School Involvement Program gives students an opportunity to work with the fair and use their imagination through creativity. A different animal is chosen each year for the students to create projects that showcase the animal with fun facts. This year the animal for students to use and learn more about is a horse.
"The partnership with Turlock Chamber Ag Committee is a wonderful way to educate students about agriculture while having fun making these projects," said Adrenna Alkhas, spokesperson for the Stanislaus County Fair.
Special developed curriculum kits will assist teachers with instructing students about the agricultural industry and its importance to life, particularly horses. The kits include a book, activities for the classroom, and a fabricated wooden base so that each classroom can create a horse of their own.
"Every class masterpiece submitted will be on display at the 2012 Stanislaus County Fair," said Laura Moore, exhibits supervisor. "Cash prizes are awarded to classes whose creative horse are rated superior, good and average by project judges."
