Fall Fest brings market to a close

Friday will mark the final appearance of the Turlock Certified Farmers’ Market for the season and it will be ushered out with day and night markets, Halloween festivities and live music.

The downtown market on Broadway will be open during the regularly scheduled hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Then, starting at 4 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m., the market will host the 2nd Annual Fall Fest.

The street will remain closed for the entire day, said Market Manager Brandon Follett.

The Fall Fest will feature about 40 vendors, many with recently reaped fall produce like butternut squash and pumpkins ready for carving. Other vendors will be selling baked goods, snacks and handmade arts and crafts.

The market will also host trick-or-treating for kids at each of the vendor booths.

The night’s music will be provided by Totally and Just Doug.

“Having a night market is a great opportunity to get a little more exposure for the market within the community,” Follett said. “It’s also a chance for those who typically work during the day and can’t attend the regular market, an opportunity to come check it out.”

The market has hosted a series of special events over the season in conjunction with the fresh produce, including health screening and multi-cultural themed days.

“Even though this was just the second year, it was considerably better than last year,” Follett said, “especially with the number of people in attendance and vendor retention. Overall, it’s been a great year.”
