Several Westside Ministries volunteers unpacked and boxed food that was donated from the International Fancy Food Show in San Francisco on Friday.
Sixty-five volunteers went to San Francisco Tuesday to sort and pack the food. The food show consists of various vendors, chefs and restaurants. Instead of letting the food go to waste after the show, it was donated to different programs. Feed the Hungry selected Turlock's Westside Ministries to be the recipient this year.
Costless Market donated thousands of boxes and shopping carts to assist the ministry in packing and bringing the food to Turlock. Candy Silveria of Westside Ministries said it took the volunteers approximately 15 hours to drive to San Francisco, sort and package the food and bring it back to Turlock. The donated food will be used for their program's Big Food Give Away on Jan. 31 and they will also donate a portion to the Salvation Army.
