The Turlock police and fire departments are investigating a fire that swept through a hydroponics store Tuesday morning.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The fire was reported just before 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Garden Depot Hydroponics store at 1460 Freitas Park Dr.

When fire crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the building.

The fire was contained within 10 minutes and extinguished in 40 minutes, according to the Turlock City Fire Department.

The store sustained significant damage from the smoke and the fire, said Battalion Chief Gary Carlson. The damage was estimated at approximately $200,000 for the contents and the structure.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, though the fire department believes it originated inside the business.

Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact Turlock Police Detective Justin Williamson at 664-7331. Callers can also call Crime Stoppers at 521-4636 and can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
