Fit Body Boot Camp to come to Turlock Industrial Park

This space will soon be home to Fit Body Boot Camp after some remodeling work.

Turlock’s 2,600 acre Industrial Park will soon play host to more than just food processing facilities as the City of Turlock recently approved a staff level minor discretionary use permit for a fitness facility to be built just east of Highway 99.

The new gym, Fit Body Boot Camp, is part of a franchise with two locations in Modesto and one in Manteca. The Manteca owner, Saul Carter, has taken the initiative to bring Fit Body Boot Camp to the Turlock community after having his eye on the Industrial Park property for some time. With the use permit in place and anticipating the arrival of his construction permit in the next several days, Carter is looking forward to bringing a new and unique type of workout to the Turlock area in upcoming months.

“Since it’s an industrial business park the fitness use aspect of this new business does take a little more scrutiny,” explained Senior City Planner Rose Stillo.

Contrary to the popular Cross Fit workouts that promote physical strength, Fit Body Boot Camp instead offers resistance and cardio based training in 30 minute group courses through the High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT, fitness approach. Designed to boost metabolism during and after the workout, Fit Body’s integrated approach offers locals a way to get fit in less time by increasing the intensity of workouts. However, Fit Body is not limited to just working out as the gym’s membership also offers consultations and diet plans with a nutritionist.

“It’s not just a place to go work out. You’re not an anonymous person on a fitness machine,” said Carter. “You really become a part of the group and you receive motivation from your personal trainer and the group setting. People come and become friends.”

Against assigning clients to “just drink protein shakes” Fit Body Boot Camp aims to help individuals create a healthy lifestyle.

Once Carter receives the building permit construction will commence to modify the facility by breaking down the wall between two suites for more space as well as the addition of a bathroom, dressing room, storage space, and an office.

Once construction is complete classes will be in full swing and locals can try their hand at the HIIT class workouts at 5: 30 a.m., 6:10 a.m., 9 a.m., 5 :30 p.m., and 6:10 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays as well as an 8 a.m. Saturday course.

Fit Body Boot Camp offers specials throughout the year and the Turlock facility will boast a grand opening special where locals can pay $137 a month for a 12 month contract for a full range of services including unlimited classes, diet plans, and nutritional consultations.

Carter will also eventually look to hire several integral positions, such as two part-time trainers, one fill-in trainer, a nutrition specialist and a full-time salesperson.
