History of business:

Standard Event Rentals, a full-service event rentals and tenting company serving the Central Valley, Northern California and the Bay Area, has been a family-owned and operated company since 1984. Founded by Matt Guelfi and his two brothers, Mark and Mike, they have always had an emphasis on family, and those values will look to live on with the company’s sale to a pair of tenured employees.

Last month, the company of nearly 40 years was sold to Isabel Galindo of Santa Clara and Malina Jacobs of Turlock. The two combined have over 25 years of professional industry experience and have worked for Standard Event Rentals since 2017. Galindo has worked her way up from the director of sales to the vice president of sales and marketing, while Jacobs has served as the director of sales of the Modesto location, playing a major role in building sales and client relations.

“We have always set the standard for our business by guaranteeing an extensive selection, exemplary products and exceptional service,” said Matt Guelfi. “It was important to the current ownership group to transition the business to people that will nurture the foundation that was built.”

As Jacobs begins her new position as a co-owner, where she will manage the day-to-day business sales and operations at the Modesto location, she understands the significance of being head of a company with such a long, family-owned history.

"I have been in special event rentals for over 25 years and have worked on a variety of projects ranging from large scale production events to more intimate boutique style events," she said. “I am both humbled and honored to be part of the Guelfi Legacy.”

Galindo shared similar sentiments, explaining how the family-oriented aspect of the company’s operations has been a major appeal to prospective and current employees like herself.

"I liked that it was a family-owned operation with three brothers at the helm. They have been in the business since 1984. I liked their personal level of engagement at the local level and felt I could learn from them," Galindo said.
