The inaugural golf tournament benefiting Jessica’s House took place on Oct. 9, and the event’s planning committee was hoping to raise at least $20,000 for the grief support center. On Monday, Michael Everett, Mark Kirkes, Jim Heller, Dianna Bettencourt, Susan Quigley, Robin Swartz and Kenny Fisher were able to present the center’s executive director Erin Nelson and EMC Health CEO Linda Stuhmer with a certificate representing more than double that amount. The event, sponsored by Hilmar Cheese, raised $41,104.90 for Jessica’s House, and according to Nelson, will be used for a variety of services at the center, all aimed at supporting children who have lost a loved one.

“This is beyond our imagination,” Nelson said of the funds raised. “We are so grateful.”

The first-ever golf tournament benefitting Jessica’s House went so well, said Everett, that next year’s event is already planned for Oct. 8.
