History of business:

Green Grub helped kick off the health craze in Turlock when its first location opened nearly a decade ago, and now the popular restaurant is beginning a new era with an upgraded space in the Turlock Town Center.

Customers came to know and love Green Grub over the years since it opened next to Raley’s on Geer Road in 2013. It became known as a haven for the healthy, thanks to its wide offerings of bowls, smoothies, salads, soups and more made from fresh ingredients. While the sentiment of health remains at the restaurant’s brand new location, the space provides new opportunities with upgraded equipment and plenty of parking.

While the new location was well worth the wait, it was, in fact, quite the wait. Green Grub owner Shannon Salvano said she moved the restaurant out of its previous space in March 2020, and spent the next few months continuing to serve customers with a pop-up shop at Pop’s Bargain Outlet. She didn’t have the keys to the new Green Grub location until November, and on Monday the restaurant will celebrate its Grand Opening after beginning to serve customers last Wednesday.

The support from the community over the years — and throughout the pandemic — has been incredible to see, she said.

“I didn't realize how much they actually missed us until today, which was the first day we started serving food,” Salvano said. “They've always been here for us even though there's been a lot of change. I feel like the people that are still sticking with us have been super loyal and I can't be happier about that.”

The menu features fan favorites like Green Grub’s famous Acai bowls and smoothies made with fresh fruits and vegetables, along with savory and vegetarian options like the black bean and quinoa burger or Greek Goddess salad. A scratch kitchen, Green Grub locally sources all of their organic ingredients.

“I brought back some of the old recipes and came up with some new salad dressings, but I think the main focus from here on out is that everything is fresh,” Salvano said. “I have a guy who has a farm and he's bringing me local ingredients. We don't waste and we make everything from scratch. I just really want people to know that.”
