Emanuel Medical Center donated an estimated 1,254 meals to Second Harvest of the Greater Valley as part of Tenet Health’s Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive.
The donations were to provide local children and adults with a healthy breakfast during the summer, which is a particularly tough time for many families and children that can no longer access schools for nutritious meals. This can impact families both in terms of proper children’s nutrition as well as adding a financial burden.
Emanual Medical Center collected 1,385 pounds of cereals and peanut butter, of which Second Harvest estimates will convert into supplying 1,154 meals. EMC staff also contributed monetary donations that Second Harvest estimates will create 100 meals.
