The holidays may be wrapping up, but you can still continue the spirit of giving by donating blood and possibly saving a life.

One pint of blood takes less than an hour to produce and three lives can be saved.

Annie Stevenson, marketing manager for Delta Blood Bank, said there is a dire need for blood this time of year.

“Cold and flu season has really taken a toll on us,” she said. “We could use all blood types; there’s an urgent need if you are eligible and can donate to save lives.”

Delta Blood Bank in Turlock is located at 655 E. Hawkeye Ave. and is open from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

“The supply of blood is really low; it’s desperately needed to help others, save lives and to benefit those that receive it,” said Jake Mize, marketing assistant, Delta Blood Bank. “Once you donate and realize how easy and simple it is, it’s something that you’ll want to do again to help others.”

If you’re able and willing to donate, contact Delta Blood Bank at 888-942-5663, or visit the website at deltabloodbank.org for more information.
