Army Pvt. Jared J. McDonald has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.

The course of instruction included basic combat military training and advanced individual training. During basic training, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions.

During AIT, the soldier was trained to be a bridge crewmember and learned to operate bridge trucks, light vehicles and bridge erection boats; prepare bridge sites and handle shore lines; assist in rafting operations and assembly of military bridges and installation of overhead anchorage system components; launch and retrieve ribbon bridge bays; prepare and install demolition firing systems, and arm and disarm land mines.

McDonald is the son of James and Jeri McDonald of Delhi and a 2011 graduate of Shattuck High School.

Air Force Airman Emily S. Getreu graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Getreu is the daughter of Michael J. Getreu of Modesto, and sister of Heather W. Fife of Hughson. She is also the niece of Stephanie Getreu of Mansfield, Susanne Sanders of Oakdale, and she is the granddaughter of Susan Hawkins of Turlock and Daniel and Patricia Getreu and Martha Dyson of Modesto.

The airman is a 2014 graduate of James C. Enochs High School, Modesto.

Army Spc. Adolfo   Alvarez has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Ga.

During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values.

Alvarez is the son of Adolfo Alvarez of Planada. He is a 2009 graduate of LeGrand High School. He earned an bachelor's degree in 2014 from California State University, Stanislaus.
