Despite the ongoing drought, the water play features at both Columbia Park and Broadway Park are running this summer in an effort to encourage children to beat the summer heat in a safe manner — and not by swimming in canals.

Due to water usage restrictions, however, the water park hours have been limited to 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily and the City of Turlock decreased the length of time the water cycles run once the button is pushed by users from five minutes to three minutes.

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
