Local car club 209 Rustbuckets are combining their annual car show with a host of spring activities, including an Easter egg hunt for kids.

“We did a car show last August and it was just too hot so we decided to do it in April,” laughed founding club member and event coordinator Jeff Greener.

There will be an array of vehicles on display, vintage as well as new, and participants can pay a $10 donation to showcase their car as well. With no pre-registration necessary, Greener said he hopes locals will be encouraged to participate and hopefully win one of nine awards available including Best of Show, Best Ford, Best Chevrolet, Best Imported Vehicle, Best Motorcycle and more.

Kids can enjoy the spring event as well through an Easter egg hunt, coloring contest and bounce house. There will be several vendors, including the Keyes Sports Association which will be selling barbecued food, as well as others offering arts and crafts.

There is also an opportunity to participate in a raffle of nearly 50 items which include tickets to the Oakland A’s, Modesto Nuts, Fresno and Sacramento zoos, among others.

“That’s something that draws in a lot of people,” said Greener.

Students from Osborn Elementary’s ballet folklorico dancing troupe, Los Luceros, will also be performing traditional Mexican dances.

The proceeds from the event will go towards the Keyes Sports Association and Keyes Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

The 209 Rustbuckets Spring Fever Car Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hatch Park located at 5506 Jennie Ave. in Keyes.  The Easter egg hunt for ages 1 to 10 will commence at 10:30 a.m.
