digital escape room
Libraries may not be able to open their physical spaces at the moment, but that's not stopping them from opening virtual activities for the community.
Starting on Monday, Stanislaus County Library will offer a virtual Story Time on Facebook Live. Story Times will air at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and Bilingual Story Times will air at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. In compliance with publisher permissions, these videos will not be archived on Facebook following the live event .
On Tuesday, the library will start hosting story break on Facebook. These videos will feature a storyteller reading some of their favorite tales with the videos available on the library's Facebook page for one week. Story break videos will be posted at 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
Two of the libraries popular activities, trivia night and escape rooms, are going to be offered virtually in July.
The library will host a themed trivia night for the entire family at 7 p.m. on Fridays in July. Some theme night options include Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Jane Austen. Participants will need to register beforehand and will need Zoom to view the questions and the free app Kahoot! to answer them. Registration can be found at http://engagedpatrons.org/EventsCalendar.cfm?SiteID=2487 and then clicking on the trivia night link.
A fair-themed escape room  and one on baseball also are planned for July. The instructions and the escape room options are available at http://www.stanislauslibrary.org/escape_rooms.shtm.
The summer Reading Challenge is progressing and taking new sign-ups. The challenge has different goals for specific ages, including adults. Participants can download the reading logs or book review forms at http://www.stanislauslibrary.org/tk_kids_src.shtm.
