History of business:

A new gym in town is hoping Turlockers accept their challenge and join the movement to become a happier, healthier self.

Through its numerous locations across the country, The Camp Transformation Center has helped thousands of people change their lifestyles both mentally and physically through their six-week challenges, which provide participants with diet and fitness support to help them lose 20 pounds in just 42 days.

“We focus on results,” Director Kimberly Recinos said. “If you don’t show up, we’re calling you and holding you accountable…sometimes we’re so busy taking care of everyone else that we forget we need to be held accountable for ourselves too. That’s what this camp is all about.”

The program consists of daily, 50-minute group classes with high-intensity interval training, which utilizes weight training, body weight movement and cardio in one dynamic workout. Combined with nutrition and supplement plans in addition to highly-qualified trainers, the six-week challenge and initial entry point for members helps members shed 20 pounds in an enthusiastic and supportive environment.

Challengers post their transformations to social media, which has allowed the popular fitness chain to gain a large following nationally. Since the chain opened its first location in 2016, over 100 transformation centers have been opened in 14 different states.

“A lot of people say it sounds like a great idea, but everyone’s skeptical until they see a friend or coworker do it,” Recinos said. “People doubt themselves and they doubt what they can do, so I’m here to let them know they’re not doing this alone. They have a whole team of people backing them up.”

For members who complete their first challenge, they can participate in the next and lose an additional 20 pounds if desired, or join in on additional challenges, such as one designed to help participants lose five percent body fat in the same amount of time. Memberships are available as well, which allow members to take advantage of classes without the structure of a challenge.

The Camp Transformation Center is for people at all stages of their own fitness journey, Recinos added, and she encouraged those who may be on the fence about starting a workout regime to give it a shot.

“The gym is not just for thin people, it’s for everyone who wants to be healthy and that’s what we’re about,” she said. “You don’t have to be great to start but you have to start to be great. You just need to step your foot in and let us do the rest. We’re going to be there with you every step of the way, but if you don’t come then how can you change?”
