New TID board starts term with little fanfare

Without a trace of pomp or circumstance, the new Turlock Irrigation District Board of Directors sat in for their first meeting on Tuesday morning.
Division 4 Director and new Board President Rob Santos helmed what was both his first meeting as chair and the first meeting for the new board. Division 2 Director Charles Fernandes, who previously sat as president, assumed his new role as vice president.
Newly elected Division 3 Director Joe Alamo sat at the dais for his first meeting, but fellow new member Division 5 Director Ron Macedo did not attend Tuesday’s meeting. Macedo, who also serves as a California Farm Bureau Federation board member, had a scheduling conflict as the CFBF annual meeting is currently being held in Anaheim.
New Division 1 Director Michael Frantz sat for only his third meeting after replacing Phillip Short, who died Sept. 25, to complete the new-look board of directors.
Committee assignments were doled out for the new directors.
Santos will represent the District on the Don Pedro Recreation Agency Board of Control, the San Joaquin River Group Authority Commission, and the Westside Power Authority. Internally, Santos will sit on the personnel and compensation committee and the senior executive compensation committee.
Fernandes will act as alternate for the Don Pedro Recreation Agency Board of Control, and will sit on the drinking water, facilities, personnel and compensation, and senior executive compensation committees.
Alamo will serve as representative on the drinking water committee, the Westside Power Authority, and the pension investment committee. Alamo will also be the alternate representative for the San Joaquin River Group Authority Commission.
Frantz will only sit on the pension investment committee. Macedo will only sit on the facilities committee.
