History of business:

Joann Carter and her business partner, Alex Askeborn, have both worked in the furniture industry for a combined 55 years. In December, they decided to put their furnishings expertise to the test by opening Nite and Day Furniture, a furniture store where the difference is truly “nite and day.”

Located near the movie theater on West Main Street, Nite and Day Furniture is independently owned. The location offers furniture from affordable to elegant, and everywhere in between. They also carry a wide selection of styles, colors and prints, from cheetah print chairs to brown, suede couches.

“We try to cater to everyone,” said Carter.

The store carries various furniture brands, including Homelegance, Best and Diamond, which all range from elegant fixtures to more casual items. According to Carter, most pieces in the store come in multiple colors, fabrics and prints. If a furniture piece is in the correct style but not the right color, Carter and her team can order it out of the catalog.

Nite and Day Furniture also offers an array of accessories, such as art and wall hangings – something that Carter considers a unique aspect to her store. Not only can furniture be purchased at the store, but also the other important details that can bring a space together to make a room feel like home.

For those who may not be able to afford some of the items in the store right away, a layaway service is also provided, as well as financing and even second chance financing for those with poor credit.
