Book lovers will once again be flocking to Turlock this week to pick up literary treasures during the annual Friends of the Turlock Public Library book sale.
The annual book sale, which begins Thursday night and extends through Saturday, will have over 20,000 books for sale that range from works of fiction to biographies and histories to cookbooks and everything in between. Hardback books are $1 and paperbacks are 50 cents. Children's books are half price. Rare and book sets will vary in price.
The book sale will be held indoors at the First United Methodist Church, at 1660 Arbor Way in Turlock.
A members only night will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with memberships available at the door starting at $10. The public sale will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. A special $5 per bag sale will be held during the last hour on Saturday.
The annual book sale is a major fundraiser for the Turlock Library. Past years have brought in thousands of dollars that help the library fund children's programs, purchase new books and other materials, pay for periodical subscriptions and pay for furniture replacement. This year a portion of the proceeds will also go towards the Friends of the Turlock Public Library's goal to help fund a new or expanded library building for the city.
